On Sunday, hubby and a couple of our friends went to check out some of the newer Craft Beer Places. Vancouver is turning into Portland Oregon. Very popular to drink fresh Beer. Something we did when we lived in Germany many years ago. The selection is fantastic and here are a few photos of where we went.

Schnapps is a distilled alcohol usually made from fruit containing a stone or pit. This schnapps pictured is from Ihringen in Baden Wurttemberg. The fruit was grown inside the 1 litre glass bottle. Bottles are placed over the flower (blossom) and the fruit is allowed to mature inside the bottle. This particular bottle had two pears mature inside the bottle. (extremely rare) The bottle must be turned several times a day or the sun will burn a hole in the fruit. (magnify) When ripe the bottle is careful removed and filled with distilled pear schnapps. The pear will keep it’s shape in the bottle providing the fluid content doesn’t go below the fruit.
